A newly redesigned 2027 BMW 7 Series Sedan is turning heads. It made its debut at the recent Beijing Auto Show. Its innovations will eventually inform future BMWs.

This is the seventh generation of the largest luxury BMW. When it shows up in Schomp BMW’s Highlands Ranch showroom later this summer, it will be available as an all-electric i7 50 xDrive and i7 60 xDrive and the gas-powered 740 and 740 xDrive. A plug-in hybrid is expected in early 2027 and eventually there also will be a V8-powered M Performance version. 

The big news is that the 7 Series incorporates BMW’s Neue Klasse introduced last fall on the new BMW iX3.

Power

The BMW i7 50 XDrive and i7 60 XDrive are powered by dual electric motors. The i7 60 xDrive has a 536 hp output that races from zero-60 mph in about 4.6 seconds. The i7 50 xDrive offers 449 hp that hauls from zero-60 mph in about 5.3 seconds. Range for the i7 60 is 350 miles+. Charging is user-friendly and efficient; at a fast-charging station it can go from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes. 

The BMW 740 and 740 xDrive have a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line gas engine with output of 394 hp that can do zero-60 mph in under five seconds.

New design 

In the 2027 7 Series, the Glow kidney grille is illuminated, there are two-section Adaptive LED headlights and a redesigned BMW badge. Crystal headlights with facets are an option. Radar, camera, sensors and washer nozzles are integrated, front and rear, presenting a clean and uncluttered look. 

The 2027 BMW 7 Series has an exclusive new Individual Dual-Finish paint scheme distinguished by a lower area matte finish and a metallic finish on the upper part. This 12-step process is entirely unique.

Increased Technology

Neue Klasse technologies include the BMW Panoramic iDrive with BMW Operating System X, with a “floating” 17.9”central display, and a new front-passenger display. Up to 7 users can sign in to customize their own unique experience. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant can control vital functions using natural language. It’s integrated with Amazon Alexa+ allowing access to an Amazon account to access music, news and more.

BMW Panoramic Vision has a projection system that extends across the windshield. Passengers can make Zoom video calls, and can be connected to a display your computer screen. 

An optional BMW Theater Screen provides a movie-theater experience with a 31.3” touchscreen and optional surround sound that can also be enjoyed and controlled by back-seat passengers. 

Parking is semi-automated with standard Automatic Park Assistant, AI-supported parking space detection. The car records and performs recurring maneuvers

Reimagined Interior

Quality materials have been selected for comfort and luxury with wood and carbon fiber trim. A new control panel groups frequently used functions, such as the seat backrest, positioning and seat height. Seating is upholstered in leather-like Veganza with perforations and quilting. Merino leather is available. Front seats are heated and have lumbar support, as well as massage capability and is also available for rear seats.
