Luxury and Satisfaction Unite in the 2025 BMW iX Electric SUV

While gas-powered vehicles aren’t going away, Americans increasingly want electric vehicles, which have achieved greater range and charging infrastructure. American EV owners are quite satisfied. The evidence? The J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study (aka EV Ownership Satisfaction Study); the BMW iX is consumers’ top-rated luxury EV.

Battery-powered electric vehicles (BEVs) made up 9.1% of market share last year, up from 8.4% in 2023. Federal and state subsidies boosted sales, as did a significant increase in the number of models offered. Other factors were at work, too: better customer education and word about BEVs spreading. J.D. Power noted, “Current EV owners are strong advocates and will play a critical role in the expansion of electrification.”

Which brings us to the 2025 BMW iX. On a scale of 1 to 1000 points. The iX ranked highest overall and highest in the premium BEV segment with a score of 790 points (the BMW i4 came in second with 783 points). The premium category average was 756.

Owners surveyed by J.D. Power were asked about satisfaction in 10 different areas: accuracy of stated battery range; availability of public charging stations; battery range; cost of ownership; driving enjoyment; ease of charging at home; interior and exterior styling; safety and technology features; service experience; and vehicle quality and reliability.

The 2025 BMW iX comes in two versions:

  • The iX xDrive50 with dual electric motors and power output of 516 mph and 564 lb-ft of torque. It offers zero-60 mph in 4.4 seconds  and a range of up to 309 miles.  The xDrive 50 Drivers get the  ability to tailor the driving experience; BMW Curved Display with 12.3” instrument cluster and 14.9” information display; BMW OS 8.5 operated by voice, screen or iDrive controller; cloud-based navigation and over-the-air software updates; and a 12-speaker sound system. Safety equipment includes a rear-view camera, Park Distance Control, and Active Driving Assistant with Frontal Collision Warning, Active Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning and Fatigue and Focus Alert.

  • The iX M60 has dual motors and total output of 610 hp and 749 lb-ft of torque. It delivers zero-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and has a range of 285 miles. The M60 adds more to the BMW 2025 iX xDrive50's features with distinctive M styling inside and out, and an upgraded Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, plus many more features.

If you’re ready to go all-electric, and you appreciate the comfort and power that a luxury vehicle brings, you definitely should be taking a look at the 2025 BMW iX.
