WE’RE NUMBER ONE!
WE’RE #1!
WE’RE TOP OF THE HEAP!
We can’t help ourselves…it feels great to be the best, and BMW is the best automotive brand for 2023, according to consumer experts at highly respected Consumer Reports. This is the first time that BMW has been on top of CR’s ratings.
CR based its top ranking for BMW on the overall scores on-road test scores plus reliability and owner satisfaction surveys of 32 brands, both foreign and domestic, luxury and so-called “mainstream” brands. According to CR, “BMW claimed the top spot this year thanks to especially strong road-test performances and solid owner survey results.”
Why It Matters
Especially in a time when many, if not most, consumers are researching online for vehicles to purchase, independent rankings and reports are important. “The rankings can be helpful to shoppers by indicating brands that shine and those that should be approached with more caution,” according to CR’s researchers. “The brands that land at the bottom are those that tend to fall short in our road tests and/or with reliability. They may still offer good cars but not consistently across their model range, and buyers should be wary.”
How Rankings are Determined
Consumer Reports buys its test vehicles anonymously from dealers. At least two current models from a brand undergo testing in order to qualify for ranking. The Overall Score is made up of four key factors:
More than 50 tests and evaluations to achieve a road-test score 17 trouble areas from CR’s Annual Auto Surveys turn up problems that translate into reliability ratings CR members provide input on owner satisfaction: Would they buy the same vehicle again? Crash-test results are reviewed and CR awards extra safety points to vehicles with crash-prevention systems.
BMW makes vehicles with superb engineering, amazing handling, the latest information and entertainment technology, gorgeous and comfortable interiors, and beautiful styling. It’s nice to know that the consumer experts at Consumer Reports have noticed.
