Buckle up for a High-Powered Ride in the BMW M2 with M xDrive

Published on Jun 24, 2026 by Schomp BMW

Small but mighty, and with all the benefits of both all-wheel and rear-wheel drive. It’s the 2027 BMW M2 with M xDrive. It’s the car designed to excite speed-loving auto purists and also handle around-town and mountain driving with ease and comfort – this M2 is a real all-season car that’s perfect for Colorado drivers who also want high performance. You’ll see it at Schomp BMW later this summer.

Let’s talk some stats: The 2027 BMW M2 is a compact, high-performance sports car that has a six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. It offers 473 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It has an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. It does zero-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and hits 124 mph from a dead stop in 12.8 seconds.

Many driving purists (it is a BMW, after all) prefer both a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. There isn’t a manual available, but this 2027 M2 with M xDrive is the first time xDrive makes it into a high-performance sports car and the xDrive certainly doesn’t detract from a thrilling driving experience:

  • The zero-60 mph acceleration in 3.6 seconds with all-wheel drive, faster than the RWD-only model.
  • In normal driving situations, power is fed exclusively to the rear wheels. AWD kicks in only when it loses traction and road conditions really call for it.
  • The M xDrive system can be configured by selecting 2WD mode, which deactivates the Dynamic Stability Control, sending all the power to the rear wheels.
  • The M2 comes with 19” wheels in front and 20” wheels in back and can be ordered with track-specific tires.

The 2027 BMW M2 with M xDrive is already getting some rave reviews from automotive experts. MotorTrend said, “It’s a proper driver’s performance car, and it was one of the finalists for the 2026 MotorTrend Car of the Year award.”

Oh – one more thing: BMW is addition a brilliant blue to the M2 lineup: Borusan Turkish Blue. It’s the color of the Colorado mountain sky on clear day. That’s in addition to five metallic and two other solid paint colors, as well as six choices from the BMW Individual paint range.
