BMW is Riding the Wave of Automotive Electrification | Schomp BMW

Published on Nov 8, 2022 by Schomp BMW

BMW is riding the wave of automotive electrification that has picked up speed dramatically in the last couple of years. Most recently, BMW introduced its iX Sports Activity Vehicle and i4 Gran Coupe and made a commitment to build at least six fully electric vehicle models in America by 2030. Overall, BMW expects that battery electric vehicles will be at least 50 percent of its production by 2030.

Now BMW is setting itself apart from other manufacturers by offering two years of complimentary (i.e., free) 30-minute charging sessions for new 2022 and 2023 BMW iX and i4 models.

CHARGE UP AROUND DENVER

The free charging is provided through Electrify America, the largest open network of ultra-fast chargers in the U.S. There are more than 20 Electrify America charging stations in the Denver metropolitan area. Electrify America charging stations are also located along the I70 and I25 corridors.

Electrification has been slowed by range anxiety: the worry by drivers that they’ll run out of juice before they can get where they need to go. Automotive technology has pretty much solved that problem with typical EV ranges of more than 200 miles. Knowing that you’ll make it to the next charging station, even if you’re headed out of town provides real peace of mind.

Typically, when purchasing a new BMW iX or i4 from Schomp BMW, a client advisor will ensure the new owner is enrolled in the program. In case enrollment doesn’t happen at Schomp BMW, the new owner will receive self-enrollment instructions from BMW, and a follow-up communication. One Electrify America account can be shared among members of an owner’s household.

BMW is making huge investments toward bringing more EVs to American consumers. It just announced that it is investing $1.7 billion in its South Carolina facilities to produce EVs, as well as a new, one million square foot, high-voltage battery assembly facility. It will produce more efficient next-generation lithium-ion batteries with greater energy density that will charge up to 30% faster. At the same time, carbon emissions from cell production will decrease by as much as 60%.
